
Benjamin Byron Brock
June 28, 1946 – January 20, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Benjamin Byron Brock, age 78, a proud Floridian and Navy veteran, on January 20, 2025. Born in Bartow, FL on June 28,1946, Ben lived a life of service, love, and dedication to his family, country, and the animals he cherished.
Ben was a man of remarkable intellect and unwavering dedication. He graduated from Boone High School in 1964 and pursued his passion for science at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, focusing on Biology and Organic Chemistry.
Ben's commitment to service led him to enlist in the Navy, where he proudly served as a corpsman, during the Vietnam War. While stationed at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, Ben worked in the intensive care unit and played a vital role in providing healthcare to veterans and even attended to President Nixon and his family. Ben embodied courage and commitment throughout his military career and carried these qualities into his personal life, where he was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend.
Ben is survived by his sister, Mary Carlisle of Oviedo, FL; his two daughters, Margaret Gabriel, her husband William Gabriel and their children Bo and Colton Gabriel, of Fitchburg, MA; and Kelsey Kelley, her husband Sean Kelley, and their children Bella and Greyson Kelley of Sanford, FL; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. His family brought him endless joy and pride.
Ben had a deep love for animals and found peace in their companionship. A sixth generation native of Florida, he cherished the state’s natural beauty and warm community.
His legacy lives on through his family and all who were fortunate to know him.
A celebration of Ben's life will be held at Compassionate Cremations and Funerals in Oviedo, FL on January 31, 2025, from 2pm to 5pm.
