Carlos Juan Sanchez Rohena passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026. He was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico on September 11, 1938 to Carlos Sanchez De Jesus and Juana Rohena y Correa.
During his youth, Carlos played baseball competitively and won many tournaments. In later years he enjoyed and excelled at dominoes and bowling.
Carlos graduated from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. He then worked and retired from the Power Company of Puerto Rico (Autoridad de Energia Electrica). After retiring Carlos and his family moved to Orlando, Florida in June of 1991.
Carlos will be remembered as a family man and always having a smile on his face. His wife Alma Iris Urgell Byron preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons Jorge Javier Salgado Urgell (Johanna Salgado) and Juan Carlos Sanchez Urgell (Scott Christopher Layman), and several nieces and nephews.
Carlos will be cremated and his ashes will be released off the waters of Ponce Inlet, Florida where his wife’s ashes were released.
