Obituary for Donald Lee Palmer
Donald L Palmer, age 74, of Oviedo, passed away on March 17, 2022 and was embraced by Jesus in his new body. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Born in Princeton, Indiana on April 9, 1947, he was the son of the late Dorothy Tough and Sparky Palmer. He was a graduate of Boca Ciega High School in Gulfport, Florida, where he was a letter athlete in football and Track. While in high school, he met his future wife Judith Eileen Palmer, and the high school sweethearts were married on October 1, 1966.
From 1966-1968, Palmer served in the United States Army, specifically with the Berlin Brigade, United States Command Headquarters, Berlin, during the occupation of West Berlin at the height of the Cold War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin).
After his military service, Palmer served as an employee with Florida Power Corporation and Florida Progress Corporation for over 25 years, including as Lineman, Lineman Supervisor, and Distribution Construction Coordinator where he earned awards for his public service and finding efficiencies for customers.
Don’s loving surviving family includes his wife of over 50 years and his two children, Donald Palmer Jr. and Andrew Palmer, and his three grandchildren, Joshua, Emily, and Benjamin Palmer, and his siblings, David, Dodi, and Donna. He was predeceased by his sister Debbie.
