With the sun rising on July 28, 1969, Estanislao “Stan” Perez entered the world in the Bronx, and instantly possessed that unmistakable New York City spirit. Stan was the kind of man who could fill a room with his voice, his laughter, or just his presence, often all three at once.
Stan was a hero in every sense of the word. He served his country with pride as an Operations Specialist aboard the USS Ashland in the U.S. Navy, and later dedicated decades of his life to protecting and guiding his community. As a corrections officer for the NYC Department of Corrections, Stan’s leadership, heart, and humor quickly propelled him to the rank of Captain before his well-earned retirement in 2014, but “retirement” didn’t slow him down. After moving to Orlando, Florida, he continued serving with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, proving that once a protector, always a protector.
In life, Stan found his greatest joy in his family. He met and married his best friend, Aracelis, and together they built 25 years of love, laughter, and teamwork, raising three wonderful children—Christopher, Isabel, and Gabriel. Stan was their rock, their comedian, their personal superhero, and occasionally their gentle drill sergeant when life required it.
Stan was deeply committed to the things that mattered most: his loved ones, his friends, and making everyone around him smile. He had a gift for knowing when to crack a joke and when to offer a steady shoulder to cry on. He loved music, had a boundless passion for superheroes and comics, and embodied the values those heroes stood for – courage, loyalty, and kindness.
Stan is survived by his beloved wife, Aracelis; his children, Christopher, Isabel, and Gabriel, and countless friends, colleagues, and extended family who were blessed to know him. His absence leaves an irreplaceable gap, but his spirit, equal parts heart and humor, will live on in every story told and every laugh shared in his honor.
With the sun setting on August 2, 2025, Stan’s time here reminds us that the measure of a life is not in its length, but in the light it leaves behind. A celebration of Stan’s life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at East Coast Believers Church. All are welcome to come share memories, laughter, and love for a man who made the world brighter simply by being in it.
