Obituary for Jerry Lee Kelley Jr.
Jerry Lee Kelley, Jr., 46, of Ocala passed away on May 6, 2020 in Orlando from a fatal car accident. Jerry was born in Olney, MD to Jerry Lee Kelley, Sr. and Barbara Munday Sneathen.
He is survived by his loving spouse Shannon Kelley and his amazing children (including his son-in-law and daughter-in-law) Brittney (Bryan), Christopher (Bryanna), Richelle (Adam), Destiny, Turner, and all the kids who looked at him as a second dad; as well as his beautiful grandchildren Leah, Sophia, and Aralyn. He is also survived by his mother Barbara, his sister Deanna, his brother Chad, many nieces and nephews, his in-laws Stu and Sue Dorethy and Christy and Edd Bass.
He is preceded in death by his father-in law Richard, his father Jerry Sr., his sister Nikki, and his niece and nephew.
If you knew Jerry you knew he hated to be the center of attention, he had dad jokes for days, always had a smile on his face, would help anyone with anything, was immensely talented, and would do absolutely anything for his family. He was incredibly proud of all our kids and grandkids and was looking forward to walking two of his daughters down the aisle this year. We had so many plans that we were making for our future that will never have his special touch in them.
Jerry grew up between Maryland and Florida and attended Gateway high school. When we met we were both working at a hotel, but for the last 21 years he has been with Orlando Dodge. Dodge has been like a second family to us throughout the last 21 years and during this time of grief. He always seemed to come home with some kind of award or gift as recognition of his hard work and dedication to the company. He took great pride in his work ethic and how he treated people. Again if you knew him you knew that he never sat still; he had to always be working on something. He could fix anything or if not he would find a way to Jerry-rig it.
In the past he loved to fish, play basketball, and hang with friends. That changed overtime and he became a family man who just loved to be at home with his wife and kids. He still loved to play basketball with his kids, play video games, work on the cars and took great pride in his home and yard. We had slowly converted him to a Gator fan (like his wife) and he had started watching football and softball when he took the time to sit down. His favorite sport had surprisingly become softball; he just loved to watch those girls play. Over the last few years he had started creating the most beautiful woodworking and farmhouse furniture. He had just launched his Facebook page K7 Artisan and wanted to turn it into a full time gig. Jerry was extremely humble, never knew the amount of lives he touched, and always put his family first. His sense of humor and the life he brought to our home will be truly missed. The world lost an amazing human, the kids lost the most dedicated father and grandfather, and I lost my world and my heart. God has gained an amazing warrior and angel.
Jerry will be cremated and there will not be a funeral or viewing. Since Father’s Day will be extremely hard this year, and to give time for our oldest son and his family to be able to be here, we are planning to celebrate Jerry’s life on Saturday June 20, 2020 at our daughter Brittney’s home at 319 Baron Rd., Orlando, FL 32828. It will be open house style from 12pm to 5pm for those that want to pay their respects, share stories, and show love to our family.
