John ‘Johnny” Clifton Ferris, 75, of Mt. Plymouth, Fl, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2022, in the care of Cornerstone Hospice House located in The Villages, FL. Born in Eustis, FL on September 23, 1947, Mr. Ferris was a life-long resident of the state of Florida and a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
Johnny is preceded in death by his wife - Julia “Becky” Ferris and son - Michael Skeeters, parents - Lenora and Paul Ferris, maternal grandparents – Georgia and John Wright, paternal grandparents – Maude and John Ferris, brothers - Jerrel Jones and Arthur Jones, sister - Paula Weed, nephew – Donald Fox, and great-nephew – Benton Jones.
Mr. Ferris is survived by his sister – Donna (Jerry) Fox of DeKalb, MS, brother-in-law – Tillman “Barney” Weed of Sevierville, TN, nieces – Lisa (Steve) Surbrook, Michelle Jones, and Cheryle Pitt, nephews – Steven (Susan) Jones, Brian (Bernadette) Weed, Jerry (Kristi) Fox, Kyle (Lori) Weed, and Kevin Weed, beloved - cousins, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and special treasured friends.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, October 8, 2022, for a 10:00 a.m. grave-side service at the Sorrento Cemetery (23201-23279 Oak Ln, Sorrento FL). The family invites you to join them for lunch following the service at the cemetery gazebo to share in fellowship and fond memories.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in the name of John Ferris to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization helping injured veterans and their family members to which Johnny was most passionate.
