Joyce Erma Nichols, 84, of Winter Park, FL, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, after a prolonged illness. She was born on February 8, 1939, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Walter and Erma (Voga) Hennes. For most of her life she lived in Rockford, IL. There she raised a family and enjoyed many cherished friendships.
On May 19, 1951, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Joyce had a deep love of Bible truths and was an avid student of God’s Word. She was especially drawn to Bible prophecy which she found to be so faith strengthening. Seeing the fulfillment of Bible prophecy gave her an unbreakable confidence in all the future promises recorded in God’s Word.
She is survived by her son, Kyle (Vivian) Nichols; grandson Ryan (Sydney) Nichols, and honorary grandchildren, Shawn (Michelle) Baxter and Tyler (Nica) Baxter; her great grandchildren, Greyson and Isla; sister-in-law Joanne Hennes, and nieces Tanya (Ken) Stine and Lisa Blankenship. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Nichols, parents, her brothers, Wayne and Elroy Hennes, sister-in-law Sandra Hennes, and her daughter Kelley Knutti.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
