Linda Lou Perry, 76, of Altamonte Springs, FL passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Orlando, FL on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Linda was born to the late John Earl and Katherine Mary Browning, Hagerstown, MD November 22, 1946. Linda attended South Hagerstown High School and attained her Bachelor of Business Administration from Frostburg State University.
Linda is survived by her only daughter, Dianna Lynn (Heckman) Fisher-McDevitt (husband CJ McDevitt) of Sanford FL, sister Patricia Luipersbeck (Joe) of Smithsburg MD, ex-husband Doug Heckman of Deltona FL, niece Judy Chrisp (Joe), nephew Patrick Luipersbeck (Chris), and many grandnieces/nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Earl and Katherine M Browning.
Linda spent much of her younger years living in the Maryland area working for Butcher& Singer, Ferris & Company, Montgomery Cable and retired as Director of Customer Service and Communications for COMSAT/Lockheed Martin, Germantown, MD.
Linda was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Hagerstown, MD then later Central Church, Sanford, FL. She was a devoted Christian who participated in weekly devotionals at her Assisted Living Community in Altamonte Springs, FL.
In the 1980’s, Linda was an active member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) where she was a local chapter (Little Heiskell) President and attained the ABWA Woman of the Year Award bestowed in San Antonio, TX in 1984.
After retirement, Linda relocated to Florida to be close to her daughter, Dianna where she loved spending time volunteering as a docent at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, Sanford, FL. She lovingly cared for the giraffes and bears and gave guidance sessions to visitors on their habitats. Other activities and hobbies were oils/acrylics paintings, various arts and crafts, jewelry design, and dominoes/card games. She loved the beach, music (mainly Motown and Jazz), travel, a fluent speaking Francophile, and mostly her family. She certainly had a heart of gold and always worked to help others. Linda will always be known for her love and affinity for animals. Early on in life she bred and showed Dobermans and had many furbies (dogs and cats). She was a bit of a ‘dr. doolittle’ and animals always felt calm around her.
Linda was surely a devoted Mother to Dianna where they loved shopping and traveling together. Everyone would always remark how they both looked alike. She had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to spend time with her.
