Obituary for Mark James Mann
Mark James Mann, 60, from Hannibal, MO, passed away on November 1, 2021. Mark was born in Columbia, Mo to Dr. James and Ruth Mann.


From a young age he had a passion for flying. This passion led him to an extensive career as a talented pilot. He had an impressive amount of flight hours and type ratings. Mark loved sharing his excitement and joy of flying with others.


At the age 15 he met the love of his life, Julie Ann Munger, and they were married for 38 years. They loved experiencing new things together, riding their bikes, park walks, and being together. Julie preceded him in death in 2018. A bench will be dedicated to their memory in St. Peters at 370 Lakeside Park, where they spent many hours.


He married Peggy Grote Mann in 2021 and she has been one of the greatest gifts Mark has given to his family. He was a loving father to his two daughters Cheri Sparkman (Josh) and Mariah Scoble (Tristan). As well as a proud grandfather to Reagan, Brady, and Winston.


In addition to his wife and children, Mark is survived by his parents, Dr. James and Ruth Mann of Hannibal, Missouri; one sister, Lori Mann; one brother, Brandon Mann (Lisa); a Mother-and-Law, Judy Munger-Day (David); a sister-in-law, Paula Coons (Melvin); two brothers-in-law, Alan Munger (Kathy); and Nathan Munger (Dawn); Peggy’s parent’s, Warren and Betty Grote; three sister-in-laws, Linda Boerger (John), Karen Brown, Connie Koch (Jim); and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in passing by his father-in-law, Thurman B. Munger.


A private service will be held by the family.

The memorial contributions will be made to the Siteman Cancer Center, MSC 1247-414-2100, 7425 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105 or online at siteman.wustl.edu/tribute. Please indicate the gift is in memory of Mark Mann by writing a memo on your check.
