Obituary for Nora Lee Pierce Myers

Nora Lee Pierce Myers, of Altamonte Springs, Florida entered into eternal rest on March 11, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Nora Lee was born on August 22, 1929, in Randolph County, North Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Harvey Allen and Tressie Robbins Pierce. As a young girl, she would play the bass fiddle and sing gospel music with her siblings Barney, Jewell, Carl and Jimmy. She also worked on the family farm. When she was older, she was employed at the Adams-Millis Hosiery Mill in High Point, North Carolina.

She married Paul Myers on September 22, 1951. Their union lasted more than 71 years and they were blessed with three children. She left her beloved North Carolina in December 1968, to relocate with her family to Orlando, Florida. Several years later, when Paul started Commercial Glass Products, she worked there for many years as a secretary.

A full life, well lived, full of meaning is still never long enough. Nora Lee was a Christian, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nora Lee will be remembered by family and friends lovingly for her kind and gentle spirit. She enjoyed caring for and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will miss her love and devotion, along with the wonderful Sunday lunches she prepared and hosted.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all twelve of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, J. Paul Myers, and her three children: Randy Myers of Altamonte Springs, Julia Johnston of New Hampshire and Paula Pylant (Allen) of Altamonte Springs. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Billy Johnston (Ivonne), Laura Banfield (Korey), David Myers (Robin), Daniel Myers (Brianna), Emily Myers, Spencer Pylant, Austin Pylant (Bethany) and Grayson Pylant (Gabrielle). She was survived by ten great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Lucia, Noah, Maryam and Nathan Johnston; Charley, Catherine and Jack Myers; Brooks Myers; and Olivia Pylant.

A celebration of life service will be held at Gateway Baptist Church in Winter Park, Florida on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Mayhew officiating. A graveside service will be held on March 25, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting cemetery with Tom Spainhour officiating.
