Raymond Eugene Johnson – 4/21/1978 – 2/20/2021
On Saturday, February 20, 2021, Raymond Johnson, loving husband and father of two children and two stepchildren passed at the age of 42. Raymond was born on April 21, 1978 in Pasco, Washington to Joseph and Linda (Daubert) Johnson. On July 17, 2020, he married Jenifer Ottaviano and together they became a family, where he proudly help raise stepson Christian and stepdaughter Layla.
Ray enjoyed cooking and grilling. An afficionado of sodium, he could be found standing over the stove adding copious amounts of salt, ranch dressing powder seasoning or soy sauce to any piece of meat then washing it down with nice cold Mello Yello (usually mixed with vodka).
Ray, a brave man who frequently got up in the middle of the night to kill a palmetto bug in the bathroom (that’s Southern for roach), at the behest of his hysterical wife, sometimes fell victim to his own fears such as spiders and even worse, images of clowns. He loved (the worst) music. He insisted on listening to it in the car at a volume loud enough that his neighbors would cease mowing their lawns and washing their cars to stare at Ray rolling down the street in the car—windows open. Cigarette lit. Shades on.
He had a surfer’s personality and had a knack for making anyone feel better about stress with his signature lines: “I’ll be fine.” And “Don’t get crazy with the Cheez Whiz.”
He loved cuddling every night, falling asleep with his legs around his wife, happily snoring (loudly) into her ear until the early morning hours when her alarm would herald the start of a new day. Ray was always up for an adventure. He was loving, selfless and caring.
Ray is survived by his mother, Linda Johnson, wife Jennifer, children Skyler Hemenway and Kaylene Kerr, and stepchildren Layla and Christian Ottaviano.
