Obituary for Sandra St. Germain
Sandra “Sandy” St. Germain
Sanford, Florida
Sandy St. Germain, our loving mother, sister, aunt, grandma and great-grandma passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021. She was born in Cheboygan, Michigan on May 17, 1947 to the late William and Marian St. Germain. Sandy attended Lake Superior State in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan where she obtained her nursing license. She worked as a nurse for many years in hospitals and medical offices, and then enjoyed working as a medical billing specialist for several years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed the beautiful Michigan weather in Grand Rapids and Bay City. She then eventually settled in Sanford, Florida nearby family.
Sandy was very proud of her American Indian heritage, and was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved the water, shopping at thrift stores, and scratch off lottery tickets. She was always friendly, and loved making small talk with anyone she came across.
Sandy was a caring, loving grandma and adored all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They loved playing games, swimming, playing at the park, and taking walks with her. She also enjoyed sharing candy with the grandkids (and they all knew where her secret stash was). Sandy loved to laugh with friends and family. She was a survivor of many of life’s obstacles, but she persevered through with courage and humor. The world will definitely be a little less interesting without her presence.
Sandy is survived by her loving family, including sons, Jeff Rapelje (Jennifer); Randy Rapelje (Ella); and daughter Sherry Norman (Chris); grandsons Jake, Joe, and Jon; granddaughters Marissa, Alexis, Maddie, Krystal and Amelia; and great grandchildren Josiah, Aviana, Zion and Amaia. Sandy is also survived by her loving sister Tina Lemuel and sister-in-law Fay St. Germain; nephews Tyler, William and James; and Parker who all brought much joy to her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Marian St. Germain, her brother Robert St. Germain, and her nephew Chase Gilbert.
Cremation has taken place according to Sandy’s wishes. There will be no formal service, but a celebration of life ceremony will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to your favorite local animal shelter. Sandy had several beloved rescue pets throughout the years.
