Obituary for Theodore Homer
On July 21, 1957, Theodore (Ted) Louis Homer was introduced to the world by his loving parents, Larry and Rita Homer. On August 2, 2022, Ted exchanged his earthly home for heaven. His legacy to find joy in the simple things of life continues through his parents, brother – Randy Homer (Carol), Bunnell, FL, daughter – Kim Deener (Dennis), Simpsonville, SC, son – Jack Homer (partner Robin Basner), Orlando, FL, Stepson – Josh Greene (Nikki), Osteen, FL, partner in life – Kristie Jones, Chuluota, FL, Grandchildren – Alexis, Noah and Ethan Stark, Mason and Jase Greene, Aidan, Austin and Alivia Basner, dog – Emmylou and many friends near and far. Departing this life ahead of Ted, his youngest brother Jeff Homer – June 1986.

Ted spread his love throughout his life to family and friends. He loved a good barbeque served up from a charcoal grill. He cherished the outdoors, working in the yard and watching the birds and squirrels eat right before his eyes. Days playing a round of golf with his dad, brother and son during VFW tournaments counted as perfect days in Ted’s heart.

Many lessons were learned on the gridiron of life with his buddies in high school and college. Ted treasured his role as one of the team captains for the Oviedo High School Lions Football Team (class of 1975), and his teammates drew from his leadership, grit, determination and tough (take no prisoners) attitude.

Ted’s competitive nature started when he was a young boy in the neighborhood sandlot where his baseball power was on full display by windows repeatedly broken! Sports was a thrill as he enjoyed playing minor league softball, umpiring the 50+ softball leagues, playing a lively game of golf, to surf fishing with his brother and friends. Oh, and college football – a loud, but joyous time shared with Ted’s family and friends.
As the ugly enemy of cancer invaded his body, Ted fought like a lion. He insisted on spending every moment filled by the love of family and friends and giving it back tenfold. He spent time posting inspiring messages to uplift others struggling with their day-to-day demons, calling his friend battling metastatic breast cancer every morning to encourage her fight, answering every invitation to spend time with family and friends. That was his legacy – loving others!

On Saturday, August 20 – Ted Homer will be remembered at the River Run Church (141 River Run Point, Chuluota, FL) at 2:00pm.
Immediately following, the family and friends will gather at East Seminole County VFW Post 10139 (300 Lake Mills Ave, Chuluota, FL) for a barbeque. Please dress casual for both events and come prepared to share your favorite story of Ted Homer.
In lieu of flowers, the GoFundMe account (Link below to copy and paste into your browser) will remain open to help the family with Ted’s after life wishes. Any monies not used for that purpose will be donated to the American Cancer Society or donations can be made directly to the American Cancer Society. (Link below to copy and paste into your browser)
