William David Payne
January 31, 1954 – July 26, 2025
William David Payne, 71, of Oviedo, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, at AdventHealth Hospice in Altamonte Springs, surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Born on January 31, 1954, in Essex, England, David was the son of the late Joy Kathleen Payne and William James Payne. His life’s journey carried him from the English countryside to the sunny warmth of Florida, where he built a life filled with laughter, friendship, and adventure.
David had a lifelong love of motorcycles and the freedom of the open road. His quick wit and easy smile drew people in, and he was never without a good story or a clever joke. Many Saturdays, he could be found at the Oviedo Farmers' Market as one of the beloved “Old Coots,” offering advice - sometimes serious, often humorous - and swapping tales with locals and friends.
An animal lover at heart, David especially adored his cats, who were constant companions in his home. His kindness, humor, and generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew him.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Payne; his sister, Susan Haite; three daughters; two stepdaughters; one nephew; and ten grandchildren who will carry forward his love and legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, whose influence shaped the man he became.
David’s memory will live on in the laughter he inspired, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he brightened.
Linda will be receiving guests at her home on Saturday, September 13, between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Friends are encouraged to reach out to a family member for the address.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to AdventHealth Hospice Altamonte or to an animal rescue organization of your choice in David’s honor.
