Obituary for Joan Badzinski
BADZINSKI, JOAN B., 83, Longwood, passed peacefully from this life to be with Jesus on May 14, 2020. She was born in What Cheers, IA, where she graduated from High School. Joani received her AA in Elementary Education, going on to start her young life as a teacher in Davenport, IA. There she met and married her husband, Dr. Richard C. Badzinski. Settling in Orlando, FL, Joani was an integral part of her husbands practice often working alongside him throughout the years. After starting their family, she went on to get a Bachelor of Science at Stetson University in Deland, FL. She also worked on her Master’s Degree at Stetson University, majoring in Guidance and Counseling. As a member of the Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd, Joani used her education developing a ministry to those in need of counseling. She poured her time and God’s love out on the hurt, wounded, broken, lost and those who felt unlovable moving them towards healing and wholeness through Jesus Christ.
Joani married Dr. Keith L. Hansen, moving to Deland, FL. She and her husband enjoyed concerts, plays and were avid sports fans often attending alumni activities at Stetson University. They were members of New Covenant Baptist Church. The most important things in Joani’s life were her faith and family. She loved any activity that included her family. She had a passion for people and sharing the love of Jesus with them. She would often meet strangers and ask if there was something that she could pray for them about.
She is survived by her husband, Keith L. Hansen; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Dana Badzinski; daughter and son-in-law, Kris and James P. Kelaher; her grandchildren, Christian Mathieu and his wife Kayla, Richie Mathieu Lawhorn and her husband Jonathan, and Ian Kelaher; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Oliver Lawhorn; sister-in-law, Eleanor Tompkins; brother, Jim Stremlow and many nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by her husband, Richard C. Badzinski and beloved grandson, Brenton C. Badzinski.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Church, 331 Lake Avenue, Maitland, FL 32751.
