Celebrating the Life Of
Martin Frederick Winter
April 8, 1939 – May 17, 2023
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Martin “Marty” Frederick Winter of
Lake Mary, Florida. He passed away at home on the morning of May 17, 2023 at the age of
84. He was born in Cumberland , MD. on April 8, 1939, the oldest of five sons to Martin G.
and Bernadine Winter.
Marty fulfilled his love of flying as a pilot for Eastern Airlines. He always felt that the employees
of Eastern were the absolute best.
Another passion of Marty’s was playing the guitar. He was self-taught and had mastered the
art. He often played along with close personal friends: Les Paul, Chet Atkins, and Jerry Reed
while on layovers out of town. They had many enjoyable jam sessions.
Marty was preceded in death by parents Martin G. and Bernadine Winter, brothers Tom and
John Winter, granddaughter Ciara Baughn, step daughter Gina DeMarr McReynolds and daugh-
ter in law Gretchen Winter. He is survived by his wife Karen Winter, daughter Teresa (Bill)
Baughn of Woodstock, Georgia, son Martin Christopher (Mary) Winter of Alpharetta, Georgia
and son Steve Winter of Tampa, Florida, grandchildren Alanna and William “LB” Baughn,
Martin C. “CJ”, Clint and Caitlin Winter, and Steven and Tyler Winter, brothers James (Mary
Margaret) and Greg Winter and first wife and mother of his children Phyllis Winter.
Marty soared to his highest height when he broke his earthly bond to be with his Heavenly
Father. He leaves behind his greatest legacy in his role as a father. He will be deeply missed
until the day we are all reunited in our forever home in Heaven.
